What We Believe at LTBC…
About God:
Our belief is in the one and only true living God. He is the creator and ruler of the universe. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and perfect in his knowledge of all things past, present, and future. He has eternally existed as the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and one God.
About Jesus Christ:
Our faith is in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who is co-equal with the Father. In His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin, death, and Satan. After forty days, He ascended back to heaven and took His rightful seat at the right hand of the Father as the High Priest.
About The Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Jesus Christ. He is active and present in the world, convicting people of their sins and drawing them to their need for the Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Christian’s comforter and teacher. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He guides and equips and is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. He gives every Christian the power to live out their faith daily.
About the Bible:
The Bible is God’s Word. It consists of sixty-six books by forty different human authors, all under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible’s unity is due to its one Author: God. Therefore, it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error, and it is the supreme source of truth for Christians’ beliefs and lives.
About Salvation:
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole sinful man and is offered freely to all who acknowledge their sinfulness, repent, believe, and confess that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Lord, and Messiah who took the past, present, and future sins of all people upon Himself, was crucified on the cross, died as the perfect sacrifice and payment for sin, was buried, and rose again. Only by trusting Jesus Christ as God’s gift of forgiveness for the payment of sin’s penalty can anyone be saved.
About Eternal Security:
Salvation is maintained by God’s grace and power. Therefore, a believer who has truly been saved is kept by God’s power in salvation. Those whom God has saved through Jesus Christ and who are Justified are being sanctified, will be glorified, and will never lose their salvation.
About The Family:
The family is God’s design. As noted in the Bible, God created two genders, male (man) and female (woman). God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a life of covenant commitment. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God since both are created in God’s image. God has given the wife and husband different responsibilities in the marriage to help each other fulfill their role as God has ordained. Children, from the moment of conception, are a gift, blessing, and heritage from the Lord. Parents have a God-given responsibility to teach and lead their children in the ways of the Lord. Children have a God-given responsibility to honor and obey their parents.
About Eternity:
People are created to exist forever. Every person will exist eternally separated from God by sin and the rejection of Jesus as their Savior or eternally with God in heaven through salvation through Jesus. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be in a personal relationship with Him through Jesus is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places that have no time or end.
